Organizing with folders

Folders keep a growing library of projects under control. Use them alongside tags for a system that scales. This page covers project folders in the works hub; media has its own, separate folder system in the media library.

Quick overview

  1. Create a folder and drag projects into it.
  2. Nest folders and navigate with the breadcrumb.
  3. Right-click, or use the icons that appear on hover, for quick actions.
  4. Let smart views collect work by rule instead of by filing.

Creating and nesting

Click the add tile at the end of the folder row to create one. Its label adapts to say whether it is adding a top-level folder or a subfolder, depending on whether you are already inside a folder, so it is always clear where the new one will land.

Each folder tile shows its own subfolder count and a recursive project count (everything nested inside it, not just direct children), so you always know how much a folder holds without opening it.

Naming and icons

Creating or renaming a folder opens the same dialog: a name field and a searchable icon picker underneath it, drawn from the workspace's full icon set. Pick an icon on create, or come back later through Rename to change it. The name field can't be saved blank, and pressing Enter in it saves immediately without needing to click the button.

Moving things around

Drag a project, or a whole selection of projects, onto a folder tile to file them there; the tile highlights while you hover over it. Drag a folder onto another folder to nest it inside, or onto the root of the breadcrumb (or any ancestor crumb) to move it back up a level, all without navigating there first. Dropping a folder onto itself, or onto one of its own descendants, is silently ignored rather than creating a loop.

The breadcrumb tracks where you are and doubles as a set of drop targets for both folders and projects, so moving something several levels up (a project you're browsing three folders deep, say) is a single drag onto any crumb rather than a multi-step trip.

Folder actions

Right-click a folder, or use the rename and delete icons that appear when you hover its tile, for its actions.

ActionResult
Open (go inside)Drills into the folder
RenameRename the folder, and change its icon in the same dialog
Assign to brandAttach a brand to the folder; only shown once your workspace has at least one brand
DeleteDeletes the folder itself; the projects inside it are not deleted, they become unfiled

Assigning a folder to a brand is a fast way to keep a client's work on brand: once linked, a small badge with the brand's name shows under the folder's name, and a folder you create while working inside that brand's profile links itself to it automatically. The Assign-to-brand entry is a submenu that lists every brand kit (a checkmark marks the current one) plus a "remove from brand" option once one is set.

Deleting a folder keeps its contents

Only the folder is removed. Everything that was inside it moves to unfiled rather than being deleted, so nothing is lost by accident. If you actually want those projects gone, delete them individually or as a selection from the works hub.

Where folders appear

Folder tiles and the breadcrumb only render in Grid view. Switching to List, Outline, Time, or Matrix while you are inside a folder keeps you scoped to that folder's contents (it does not reset you to the root), it just hides the tiles and the breadcrumb until you switch back to Grid.

States

Folders load together with your projects, so while the page is loading you'll see the same skeleton grid as the works hub, with folder tiles appearing once it resolves. An account with no folders yet is never a blank gap: the add tile (and, at the root, the two smart views below) are always there to start from.

Smart views

Alongside your folders, two built-in smart views collect projects by a rule rather than by where you filed them: Recent (updated in the last 7 days) and Never downloaded (zero downloads so far). They only appear at the top level of your folder tree, not inside a subfolder, and they update themselves as you work rather than needing to be filed into.

How to use it

Organize a client's work into a branded folder

  1. Open the works hub from the sidebar and make sure you are in Grid view (folder tiles only show there).
  2. In the Folders row, click the Klasör ekle (Add folder) tile at the end.
  3. Type a name, search the icon picker for something fitting (for example type briefcase or star in the icon search), pick it, and press Enter.
  4. Right-click the new folder tile, open Markaya ata (Assign to brand), and choose the client's brand. A small brand badge now sits under the folder name. (If you have no brands yet, this submenu is hidden; create one first in Creating a brand.)
  5. Select the projects to file: click a card's checkbox, Shift-click for a range, or press Ctrl/Cmd + A to take everything in view. Drag any one selected card onto the folder tile and the whole selection moves in at once.

Move a project back up out of a deep folder

  1. Drill in until you are viewing the project, following the breadcrumb as it grows.
  2. Drag the project card straight onto the Klasörler root crumb (or any ancestor crumb in between) to lift it out, without navigating back yourself first.
  3. To move the whole folder up instead of one project, drag the folder tile onto a crumb the same way.

Let a smart view do the filing for you

  1. At the top level of the folder tree, click Son düzenlenenler (Recent) to see everything touched in the last 7 days, or İndirilmemiş (Never downloaded) to find work you have not exported yet.
  2. These update on their own, so you never file into them. Use the breadcrumb's Klasörler crumb to step back out to your real folders.

Troubleshooting

  • The Save button is greyed out in the folder dialog. The name field is empty. A folder needs a non-blank name; type one and Save (or Enter) becomes available.
  • I switched view and the folders disappeared. Folder tiles and the breadcrumb only render in Grid view. You are still scoped to the same folder in List, Outline, Time, or Matrix, the tiles are just hidden. Switch back to Grid to see them.
  • I dragged a folder into itself and nothing happened. Dropping a folder onto itself or onto one of its own descendants is refused on purpose so you can't create a loop.
  • There is no Assign-to-brand option. That entry appears only after your workspace has at least one brand kit. Create one, then reopen the folder menu.
  • I deleted a folder and my projects vanished from it. They are not deleted, only unfiled. Find them back at the root (or filter them out with search); re-file them into another folder any time.
  • The smart views are missing inside a folder. Recent and Never downloaded live at the top level of the tree only, not inside a subfolder. Step back to the root crumb to use them.

Tips

Folders for place, tags for topic

Use folders for where a project lives, and tags for what it is about. Together they make anything easy to find.

Nested folders keep their brand link

Assigning a parent folder to a brand does not automatically assign its subfolders. Assign each folder you want linked, or create new subfolders from inside that brand's profile so they link themselves.
