FAQ
Is it free?
Individuals can design for free, no card required. Paid plans add cloud storage and managed services. See Plans and limits.
Do I need an account?
You need an account to save your work to the cloud and to use AI. You can open the editor without one, but your work only lives in that browser's local storage until you sign in. See Sign up and sign in and Where your work lives.
Where is my data, and can I get it out?
Your work is stored under your account, and you can always export it, both rendered files and whole projects as a .cardcraft file. See Where your work lives.
Which browsers are supported?
Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. A few features, connecting a local storage folder and fast video export, work best in a Chromium-based browser. See System requirements.
Do I need to pay for AI?
No. AI runs on your own provider key, and you are billed by that provider directly, not by your plan. See Bring your own AI key.
Can I self-host it?
Yes, the project is open source. Self-hosting runs the same app with no plan tiers or billing involved. See Self-Hosting.
How do I export?
Export targets the part you are on, this page, frame, or slide, not the whole project. See Export a page and Projects and parts.
What video formats can I export?
MP4 (H.264) only. It's the only format in the video export dialog today, WebM, GIF, audio-only, and an image-sequence export aren't offered as options at all right now. See Supported formats.
Does two-factor authentication use a QR code?
Not today. Setup shows a manual entry key to add to your authenticator app instead of scanning a code, along with ten one-time backup codes to save somewhere safe. See Security and 2FA.
Does email verification use a link or a code?
A 6-digit code sent to your inbox that you type in, not a link you click. Request a new one from the sign-in screen if it expires before you use it. See Sign up and sign in.
Is there a limit on failed sign-in attempts?
Yes, a handful of failed attempts in a short window triggers a temporary lockout that clears on its own, it exists to slow down guessing attacks, not to permanently lock you out. See Sign up and sign in.
Will my design quota actually stop me from creating new work?
Usually not by default, enforcement of the design-count limit is off across the app unless your workspace has specifically turned it on, or an admin has set an override on your account. Storage is the quota that's consistently enforced everywhere. See Plans and limits.
What happens if I ask for a refund?
If it's shortly after your most recent payment, it's approved and processed automatically. Past that window, it goes to manual review instead of an instant answer either way. See Plans and limits.
Is the comments panel in the editor the same as project comments on the roadmap?
No. The comments panel lets you pin a note to a spot on the canvas and reply to it in a thread, a personal annotation tool available today. Multi-user, real-time collaboration on comments, with an activity feed and access-controlled sharing, is the separate, not-yet-shipped feature tracked on the Roadmap.
Can I link Google or GitHub to an account I already have?
Not yet. You can sign in with either from the start, but adding one to an existing password account afterward is planned, not shipped. See the Roadmap.
What's the difference between AI Studio and the in-editor assistant?
The same providers, skills, and threads power both. AI Studio is a standalone chat, image, and video workspace, the in-editor assistant additionally edits your canvas directly and can capture a screenshot of it. See Using AI chat and AI chat assistant.
Can I customize keyboard shortcuts?
Yes. Settings, Keyboard Manager lets you search, rebind, and save named profiles of shortcuts, separate from the default list on this site. See Keyboard shortcuts editor.
Can I use an AI provider that isn't in the list?
If it speaks the OpenAI-compatible chat completions format, yes, connect it as a custom endpoint with its base URL and key. See Connecting a provider.
How much does video generation cost?
Whatever your video provider charges for the model and duration you pick, shown as a cost preview before you generate. Rates vary a lot between models. See Generating video.
Are teams and collaboration available?
Each account has its own personal workspace today. Team management and shared collaboration are planned. See the Roadmap.
What if my cloud storage fills up?
New cloud uploads pause once you're at your limit. If you've connected a local folder as your own storage, new uploads can route there instead of being blocked, otherwise free up space or upgrade to continue. See Plans and limits and Where your work lives.
Can I connect Google Drive or an S3 bucket for storage?
Not yet, a local folder on your own machine is the storage integration available today. More storage backends are planned. See Where your work lives and the Roadmap.
